About Dr. MacDur

Dr. Hart MacDur (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in Boston, MA. She specializes in delivering Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other evidence-based treatments for children, adolescents, and adults experiencing emotional and behavioral dysregulation; with particular focus on using caregiver training and coaching to maximize the effectiveness of these treatments.

Dr. MacDur also has extensive experience providing Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and its adaptations for families with children as young as 2 years of age; as well as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and Values-Based Exposure Therapy for anxiety, phobias, and school avoidance. 

Dr. MacDur (formerly Dr. Hart K MacCardell) earned her BA in Psychology with a minor in Educational Psychology from Bucknell University before earning her MA and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Momentous Institute in Dallas, TX. Dr. MacDur was a Beckwitt-Hughey postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard Medical School/McLean Hospital 3East DBT Continuum, and has held supervisory positions through both the Boston Child Study Center and the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston University.

Dr. MacDur takes a pragmatic, goal-oriented approach approach to treatment; believing in the importance of a shared understanding between client and clinician of how a specific treatment is designed to address the individual- or family’s goals and concerns. Her style is direct yet approachable, blending warmth and compassion with competence and expertise. Dr. MacDur strives to be inclusive in her work and welcomes members of the LGBTQA+ community, BIPOC-identifying individuals, and all range of identities.
